In the comments below, you'll find ideas from current grad students and recent alumni about what books and articles we think you might want to check out over the summer before you enter the program. (No pressure, these are just ideas that might help you get a leg up in your first semester, if you feel like reading them.)

We look forward to meeting you!

UNCG WGS Blog

Hey Folks!
Welcome to our first blog for UNCG's Women's and Gender Studies community! We have no rigid designs on what can and cannot be posted here, but some ideas for use of this space might be . . .

- facilitate community among WGS students
- announcement of various events relevant to WGS mission
- critical conversations among WGS community members
- extension of conversations from WGS classes and events
- links to other relevant sites, blogs, etc.

Please post web links, events, ideas, musings, scholarly questions, rants, whatever seems beneficial for our WGS community directly to the Blog. We will move posted links and events over to the left column bi-weekly.

We also have a public WGS calendar for those ocassions when we need folks to sign-up for specific dates/times for events. Go to yahoo calendar, and log in with username: wgscalendar - - than use password: minerva. Generally, you will simply edit a listing on the calendar by adding your name and then saving changes. Our first chance with this will be for staffing our table at Fall Fest. Give it a try - we need at least two people for each hour, but do what you can do.

Hope this helps us generate and maintain critical dialogue.

Enjoy! Kathy
